Prepare for Water Birth guide ✅
6. Fill Pool with Water
Use a brand new drinking water hose and a tap adapter. The tap adaptor you'll need will be dependant on the faucets in your home (ex. North Amercian vs European faucets, Sink vs Shower head), so you're going to need to do some research to determine which will be the right fit (Recommended products below).
Run hot water through the hose for about three to four minutes to clear all debris.
As you get ready to fill your pool, check with your midwife for direction on when to fill it and how hot. The recommended temperature is around 37 degrees Celsius, which you can monitor with a floating thermometer. If the water needs to be warmed up over time, remove cold water with a clean bucket and add more hot water. Try to avoid drafts by keeping windows and doors closed, and consider a birth pool cover if you have limited hot water access.
