9. Cleaning your pump

Place the pump directly into a bucket of clean, hot water. Turn the pump on and allow it to drain the bucket completely to clear contaminated water from the hose.

Once the bucket is empty, turn off the pump, refill the bucket with hot water, coil the hose inside it, add roughly an ounce of bleach, and run the pump again to circulate the bleach water through the hose and pump for three to five minutes.
