The Pinard Horn fetoscope was developed in France by Dr. Pinard in the early to mid-1800’s.

Many midwives like to use the Pinard horn because they feel that it brings them physically closer to the women they are caring for.
Today many mothers and caregivers find that using a Pinard horn is a more hands-on way to check the heart tones of their baby.
